Biography

Dr. Paul Johns is a Research Chemist working in the Washington, DC area. He completed a three year Postdoctoral Researcher position in 2020 sponsored by the American Society for Engineering Education and received his PhD in Physical Chemistry at the University of Notre Dame. His research focuses on the ultrafast interactions of light with gold nanostructures using nonlinear spectroscopy and finite element methods as implemented in COMSOL Multiphysics®. Paul has taught in a variety of capacities: as an undergraduate and graduate TA, as Visiting Laboratory Instructor at Saint Francis University where he taught Physical Chemistry I Lab, General Chemistry II Lab, and Organic Chemistry I and II Lab, and as the primary instructor at the University of Notre Dame for a Physical Chemistry II course.
